If you have a cool €3.75 million on your hands, there is a bargain just waiting for you: your very own Renoir. Not one of his paintings, but his house perched high on a hill in Montmartre. The house has been on the market since last year, and the price has recently dropped from €4.5 million.The property, known as Chateau des Brouillards, was the boyhood home of filmmaker Jean Renoir, the painter's son. It has been in the same family for half a century, and is mostly in its original state.

How exciting to see my tip appear so soon! This item was in several Sunday real estate sections around the US this week, in the filler column called "Sleeping with the Stars" in our paper. Usually they focus on Hollywood, so this really stood out. Thanks for finding a picture; I was really curious. It was just a month ago we were walking around Montmartre....

I was going to contact the Real Estate guy but I didn't want him to think he had a prospective buyer on his hands. My budget has a few fewer zeros.
Thanks for the google tip - there is a lot out there. Another reason that you may not want to call the Real Estate guy is that you can't drive right up to the house. I was thinking that unloading groceries would be inconvenient, but of course you are in Paris where you would pick up a few fresh items for dinner each day, n'est-ce pas?
