Have you ever dreamed of diving into thick chocolate mousse?
Or exploring the inside of a chocolate eclair?
Or skiing down a slope of Chantilly cream?
Or biking up a Paris-Brest?
You can do all this and still keep your New Year's resolutions -- by discovering Minimiam.
And if you don't want to eat your spinach, just send in the army.
Maybe your mother always told you to stop playing with your food. Mine did.
Well, It's a good thing that Akiko Ida and Pierre Javelle didn't listen to that maternal advice. This Paris-based duo has created the enchanting Minimiam, a whimsical Lilliputian adventure in food photography.
But Minimiam's ("little yummies") superb creations are not child's play, not by a long shot. The talented Ida and Javelle trained in photography at Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, where they met. They have been getting attention from the international press recently, with good reason. A perfect blend of superb micro photography and cuisine, their creations are not only artistically impressive, but pure entertainment. Inventive, creative genius, inter-playing the form and shape of food with imaginative settings. It doesn't get much better. I've been enchanted by their work ever since I first saw their photos a year ago. Check out this video clip to see them in action.
Pierre has informed me that Minimiam's art will be featured in a cameo spot on "L'empire du Sushi", a documentary to be aired on France 5 this Thursday evening.
Bring your own wasabi and savor the delicious fun.

Merci, Cowgirl, et bienvenue!
What is it about these mini-yums that is so irresistible?
I love this! How fun are these little figures with the food?! At first, I admittedly read Minimiam as Miniman! :)
