I like D, too, and I agree that it feels like Paris. Although I like the current banner, too. Just back from Paris myself, and I think the lighter colors say it best.
I like D, too. If you're using Wordle or a similar word-cloud builder, usually you can tweak the final product to remove certain words that you don't want to be highlighted in the cloud. For example, I notice the words "felt", "need", and "just", which detract from the overall impression you're trying to create.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It is from wordle, and the final results would be tweaked. But I do have underlying concerns as expressed by Denise and David. Just looking for something updated and contemporary.
Keep the comments coming and I'll keep you informed. cheers!
Do you really need something updated? The image you have currently is charming and expresses a lot. One likes to have to put oneself into a place and the existing image certainly does that. Good luck
I like E, but I wish the "Polly Vous" was on the upper right hand corner to balance out the 2 most important words, which to me are "Paris" and "Polly Vous". The black and red to me conjure a dark/aggressive emotional quality that I don't associate with either you or Paris. FWIW, I loved your old stamp/mail one. ;-)
I like "A" the best because it reminds me of the classic Metro map. But I don't really like it much for your banner. The pinky ones are insipid. And you are not.
Thank you EVERYONE for your input. Bisous bisous bisous. But -- arrgh! Now I'm in more of a quandary than ever. Maybe I keep a version of the banner but change the overall template so the blog itself has more room? From comments from all fields, I'm getting feedback that a new wordle-type banner would be fun but rather common (i.e. lots of blogs/websites have a wordle cloud).
I want to have something classic and elegant with lots of open space -not the narrow column as it is currently. Oh, like i said I love design decisions and I HATE design decisions. And thanks for the anniversary wishes. If I didn't have a pressing day job I'd spend much more time on this! Alas, gotta pay the rent!
As an European myself, i kind of feel Paris in your A. design. Maybe with a "retro touch" ...but Paris, non the less. I would stay away of pink, and consider anything with black! Hope this help,a bit...
Dear Polly, I love your blog. Congratulations on 6 years! I don't want to be negative but I really don't like any of the pictures you are considering. They are all too.....I don't know....modern. When I think of Paris I think of old, vintage, charm, elegant, the Opera House, Palais Royale gardens.......oh dear, I could go on and on. I need a quick trip to Paris!
Other votes have come in saying that the "word" image is too common a graphic these days, so lacking in originality (ouch). Though now that I think about it, mebbe so. Oh sheesh, I don't know. Stay tuned when my day job gives me more time to ponder on new design suggestions! Thanks for all your input!
So here's the latest rendition of the banner. Not perfect, but I like the concept. Help and advice welcome! Sorry to abandon the wordle concept, but i got so much feedback about its being ubiquitous and trendy...

I like the font in D or E. It just feels "Parisy". Congratulations on 6 years.

I'd say none of them.
They're too crowded for a banner.
I like D. :)

I choose none of the above-I can appreciate the fonts but they lack charm overall.

I like A or D, and of the two, I prefer D. FWIW.
Too wordy? I like your current picture. Oh, and the red/blue one is too jangly in color.
Change is hard!
These decisions are extremely difficult! I would go for D.

I like the brightness of B.
I would love it if you got rid of the captcha though.
I like all of these but A & D are my favorites. D does, as J. said, feel "Parisy". Perhaps the color & font are Belle Epoque?
I go for E. I agree that the lighter colors work best (the others are pretty but somehow not right for Paris). And E seems better balanced, to my eye.
I like D

I prefer something more original than Wordle. All your other banners have a unique feel.
Best wishes for another six years.
I'm voting for C, even though many other voters are obviously color blind, embittered Sarkozy supporters or English.
I like C or E. Although when all is said, I like what you have now.
I like "A" the best because it reminds me of the classic Metro map. But I don't really like it much for your banner. The pinky ones are insipid. And you are not.
I like E., but I prefer the one you have right now. But I understand your desire to change things.

I like D, and it's even better if the pink is more 'dirty'. :) Congratulations!
Hi I know you probably don't want to hear this but I LoVe the banner you already have!!
Please go back to your original banner. The current one is depressing. The proposed change does not fit your image.
