We saw it from behind he chair, so it was pretty entertaining.

We didn't get to see Yann Barthes, though; maybe he isn't ever pre-recorded.Polly-Vous Francaishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12667479743723002691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-21476430508633888292008-02-07T19:46:00.000-05:002008-02-07T19:46:00.000-05:00moi, i would of been extremely excited to see loui...moi, i would of been extremely excited to see louise, the weather girl.wynn danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06656902461606144143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-39025979411155550092008-02-07T09:45:00.000-05:002008-02-07T09:45:00.000-05:00I agree -- this was an excellent re-telling of you...I agree -- this was an excellent re-telling of your experience, Polly! I got a kick out of reading it... I've never been a Stallone fan either, but ironically my boyfriend thinks he's the cat's pyjamas -- ha! He thinks he's the perfect incarnation of "all that is American", which is kind of what I guess they try to convey with Stallone on les Guignols! In not the most flattering way, of course, but he does seem to take those kinds of things in stride. And I agree that he does also seem pretty personable in interviews -- something about him is, um, likeable -- I guess?!?!

But as to his political views -- well, I won't even go there! The Late Bloomerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08337578942279132688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-23694905674090885242008-02-06T18:54:00.000-05:002008-02-06T18:54:00.000-05:00Dear Jay,Thanks for your story about being on Colb...Dear Jay,

Thanks for your story about being on Colbert's show! Awww, well, I'd still go for tickets if and when I ever make it to NYC. He's my hero!

I also heard that the comic who warms up the crowd isn't all that great, and I imagine that the audience is just impatient to see The Great Colbert in action anyway. Still, I'm a few years away from 40 but am a female Asian, which kinda shuts me out of Stephen's prime demographic group anyway. Oh well.

Sorry you couldn't get into The Daily Show! That would be my next choice.

Salut,
MarjorieMy Inner French Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17014872210301856004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-47684383600103622092008-02-06T18:13:00.000-05:002008-02-06T18:13:00.000-05:00I'd kill to be on Stephen Colbert's show.MIFG,I we...I'd kill to be on Stephen Colbert's show.

MIFG,

I went to a taping of Colbert last summer. A friend had tickets to The Daily Show, but we were last in line and got shut out. So we wandered up a few blocks to Colbert and got the last two places.

It's not worth killing for. It's not even worth doing serious bodily injury for. Maybe a small bruise. A lot of waiting, a warm-up comic who tries to hard and isn't all that funny, and a view of what's happening that's far inferior to what you see on TV. Plus, if you're over 40, a chance to feel (in comparison those around you) very, very old.Jay Livingstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06652075579940313964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-68553268089441377162008-02-06T16:23:00.000-05:002008-02-06T16:23:00.000-05:00Dear Polly,What a great anecdote! I've never been part of a live show audience -- I'd kill to be on Stephen Colbert's show -- but you described the whole experience beautifully.

I've always liked Stallone and felt that his macho action flick image belied a certain creative spark and intelligence. I mean, the guy won an Oscar for best original screenplay. Good to hear about him outside of the context of American talk shows, where hosts always like to play on his Rambo image.

Of course, if it came down to choosing between him and Guillaume Canet...well, no contest. Au revoir, Stelun!

Salut,
MarjorieMy Inner French Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17014872210301856004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-41043948015574339892008-02-06T12:58:00.000-05:002008-02-06T12:58:00.000-05:00I have often dreamed of being in the audience for ...I have often dreamed of being in the audience for one of Laurent Ruquier's shows. I didn't even appear once on the show, which doesn't disappoint me but surprises me as I was right behind Ariane Massenet. Cameras do such tricky things!

Isabella: My fesses STILL hurt. Them was hard benches.

Jay: I think you can sign up right now to participate in the audience of Lettres et Chiffres. Then you can report back!

Yeah, they showed that Rambo violence chart on the show, and of course did the math of how many dead per minute.

I left out some bits, too, like the John McCain commercial they showed with Rocky music in the background, showing Stallone doing push-ups one fist at at time. He quipped "I can't do *that* anymore!" but the translators missed it, so I was the sole laugh in the audience.Polly-Vous Francaishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12667479743723002691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-71717539120136299122008-02-05T18:15:00.000-05:002008-02-05T18:15:00.000-05:00OMG is Chiffres et Lettres still on?
