Crocs: Fashion Forecast

Good news, bad news. You decide which is which.

Crocs sales are slumping in the US, according to the Colorado-based company. And they just shut down their Canadian factory.

But never fear, Parisian foot-fashion hounds. Crocs just opened its first boutique in Paris last week.

European sales are expected to increase 90%.

Oh joy.

in terms of crocs, I've never worn a pair, and probably will never do so. It doesn't seem like the right Paris 'look' (see my post called "If the shoe fits."

I applaud the legislation fighting anorexia and bulimia, but don't know how enforceable that will be.

France has a pretty creative advertising community: I'd like to see them get more involved, as I think that would ultimately be more effective in combatting the problem.

Nooooooooooo! It can't be. They will never sell. The French are far to clever to but there fashionable feet into a plastic crocodile. Aren't they?

Bonjour Polly,
Crocs come in great colors, but they are still the ugliest shoes I've ever seen. I can not see the fashionable french wearing crocs.

Well, I'm assuming that Crocs in France are just for the under-12 crowd. Not destined to be part of the femme fatale mystique.

I don't anticipate that they would become a hit on avenue Montaigne!

Who cares whether they're a hit? Part of the allure of Parisian fashion is that every one gets to decide for herself.

Besides, I just bought 3 pair of the new Crocs flats -- one each in black, purple, and a vivid red -- and they're divine. They have terrific lines; better than any of the similar shoes I tried on. And they're almost as comfy as the original Crocs.

I will wear them all over France this summer, and only my feet will know they difference. They will be in heaven, with the rest of me. :)

polly... darn, I was hoping to bring a pair for my boyfriends niece (3) as a gift. She probably has some. I guess it would have been weird anyway if no one had seen them before, she'd stand out a bit anyway. So, any ideas for a unique gift for a three year old girl that you can't find in Paris?
