There are lots of good ones and lots of mediocre ones out there! Une tradition is my favorite because it has more substance. This guy is numero uno this year, and maybe worth a trip just for fun. Basically I look to see wherever the lines are longest on Sunday mornings: that's where the good baguettes are!Polly-Vous Francaishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12667479743723002691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-86077156988768988782008-02-14T03:04:00.000-05:002008-02-14T03:04:00.000-05:00We've been planning a trip to Paris in the (hopefu...We've been planning a trip to Paris in the (hopefully) near future...and I am going to add this to my list!Caffienated Cowgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03762389337951910204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28165993.post-6787428792775806862008-02-13T17:54:00.000-05:002008-02-13T17:54:00.000-05:00Jay,The "Best Baguette" contest has been going str...Jay,

The "Best Baguette" contest has been going strong since 1993.

Spoof? I found a store that was open -- not a bakery but maybe an epicerie or drogerie, I don't remember -- and the man directed me to go down Cardinal Lemoine practically to the Quai, make a left, and there I would find a bakery that made "la meilleure baguette a Paris."
I figured that it wasn't worth the ten minutes there and back. Now I'm glad I didn't go, since it turns out he was wrong.

But come on -- the idea that out of the thousands of baguettes in Paris, one can be best?? The address alone is the tipoff that this is some kind of Dadaist spoof.Jay Livingstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06652075579940313964noreply@blogger.com
