D-Day Commemoration in Colleville

Here is the invitation, which arrived in my inbox last week. Fulfilling a lifelong dream! I was geared up, all systems go.

Long story made short: it is almost 3 p.m. in Colleville-sur-Mer. I am watching the ceremony on TV from home.

I am so sorry that you weren't able to go.

How did you get the invite? That's amazing!

I decided to stop whining about not being able to get there. All those soldiers never whined.

I was sad not to go because even if I get invited again, in 5 years there will be even fewer veterans.

It was indeed a beautiful ceremony. 9000 in attendance (minus one!) I hated the interruptions of "commercial breaks" on TV; had to surf a bit to find a channel that showed it all the way through.

Well, you know that there were no commercial breaks on French TV, and I'm wondering at what moment the American TV channels decide to "take a break", since there was something interesting going on all the time!!

At least that invitation exists. For you and the whole world.
Imagine the contrary?

Mary, you are so wise. As always.
