French Club, 1973

I don't really remember what we did in French Club, except hang out and try to speak in French. A few dozen high-school girls who loved French and France. Did we just love the language or was it the overall allure?

Francophile that I was, I continued with French Club (co-ed!) in college, then moved on to membership in one Alliance Francaise or another as an adult. Recently I joined another French conversation group; we gather once a week for tea and chatter away en francais like schoolgirls. Er, I'm the second-youngest member, though. You do the math.

If you want to be in a French Club, but there isn't one around, you can always start one yourself, of course.

That is an awesome picture, I think in our "french club" we talked about Paris and cut out pictures from travel brochures. LOL

Modernmom, I always had fun in French Club! I think maybe we talked about Jean-Paul Belmondo too.

Starman, here are two links (one of my old posts and another) for anyone who needs to improve their understanding of spoken French.

I loved my French club too, but I'm sure my favorite bit was when we had 'French' food brought in. Imagine how exotic it was to be eating Brie, croissants and escargot in the midwest!lol

Duchess - Yes, I think we had an event or two avec camembert. Not much available French cheese in the 70s!

Sherry - 1973: yeah, all the long hair parted in the middle, no styling. We were dying for it to be California-girl straight. But importance was to be au naturel.

dw quilt art -- you can do it!
