Be Nice

En route from the Viaduc des Arts to the Gare de Lyon today it was impossible not to be blown away by the cerulean blue of a clear September Paris sky. The stark architecture of the Prefecture de Paris building (in charge of housing), on rue Paul-Henri Grauwin, set a perfect visual contrast.

But I really liked the graffiti on the sign on the gate outside the Prefecture.

"Prefecture de Paris.
Be nice."

Glad you're back...I was worried about you! If you see lots of 'hits' on your blog from Iowa, that was me. I kept checking, thinking "it's 10pm in Paris now, surely she's posted something!" So...did you stay up/get up at 3am to watch the debate? The media here is calling it a draw; I agree, neither really had any shining moments. Will you watch the Veeps next week? I'd be interested in the French perspective on all the candidates. I know you don't get super political on your blog...any suggestions of a place to read (in English!!) what the French have to say??

The blog "Regard sur les Etats-Unis" is in French but has links to a number of sites that discuss the Campaign from a French perspective, some in English.

http://reu-oi.blogspot.com/ or find it on my links.

You're right that I try to stay out of politics on the blog -- otherwise I could really lose focus, already an easy task for me! But I am in the process of writing up what I did while AWOL for 2 and a half weeks in the US, including attending a Michelle Obama/Jill Biden rally in Virginia: two women I can be proud of as an American in France.

Love it! I collected graffiti last time I was in France. Most of them are really witty.
